IRENE** MOXNESS (nee PETTERSEN) On Monday, October 21, 2002 Irene Moxness died peacefully in her sleep at her home. Her life will be sadly missed, she added so much spirit, zest and determination and was usually the centre of conversation where ever she was. Born in Svolvaer, Norway, in 1923 she moved to Trondheim, Norway in 1936, then immigrated to Canada in 1950 at which time she married Knut. They were married for almost 50 years. They resided and raised a family in Fort Garry. She loved spending time in her house and yard with her flowers and plants. Irene also enjoyed bowling, bridge, cooking, shopping, travelling and a variety of handicrafts. She was about to embark on an adventurous move from her Fort Garry home to the Okanagan Chateau in Kelowna, BC, which she was thoroughly excited about. Irene will be greatly missed by her son Peter (Judy) Moxness and children, Jonathan and Kristoffer of Okotoks, AB; her daughter Linda Moxness of Winnipeg; her sister Ingeborg (Ole) Ommedal and family; her sister-in-law Ingrid Pettersen and family; Knuts (her late husband) family, all residing in Norway and all of her good friends and neighbours. Irene will be cremated with a private service to be held next summer in Norway. Friends are invited to stop by the family home on Saturday, October 26 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. for an Open House.
