HILDA WOOD "GRANNY" Passed away on October 22, 2002. Born March 5, 1911 in Emerson to Michael and Amelia Patzer, the third eldest of eight (four boys, four girls). Married James C. Wood in 1930. Predeceased by James, grandson Derrick and her first two sons at birth. Survived by sister Elsie Fenske; sons, Lone (Evelyn), Richard (Valerie), Gordon (Gail), nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous foster children. Hilda led a very active and productive life. Besides caring for numerous foster children, as well as her own, she found time to sit on the Brooklands School Board for many years, was president and/or vice president of the Brooklands Community Club for over a decade. She operated the Brooklands Teen Dance for over a decade and was very active with the March of Dimes and Red Feather Appeals. Hilda organized and operated several projects supporting less fortunate people, most notably the Peoples Project which collected and distributed clothing to whoever needed it. She will be sorely missed not only by her family, but by all in the community that she has touched over the years. Visitation will take place 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 29 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 30 also at Bardal Funeral Home.
