ALLISON RUTH BELL Allison Ruth Bell (nee Dryden) of Winnipeg and Victoria Beach died Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at Concordia Hospital. Allison was born in Winnipeg on October 31, 1925 to Joshua and Elsie Dryden. She attended school in Winnipeg and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in home economics. She was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority. Allison worked as a social worker with the Childrens Aid Society and the Family Bureau in the 1950s. In recent years, she participated in many volunteer activities including the Manitoba Museum, the Victoria Beach Community Church, and the EK-YM/YWCA. Allison spent many summers at her cottage at Victoria Beach, at the golf course, or otherwise socializing with her many friends. Allison married the late William Lawrence Bell on October 5, 1957. Their son Geoffrey, was born on October 6, 1961. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her sister Shirley Derrington. Allison is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Geoffrey and Velda Bell, of Duluth, MN; her nephew Ross Derrington of Calgary, AB and her nieces, Valerie Wren and Lori-Ann Gauthier, also of Calgary. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25 at 3:00 p.m. at John Black Memorial United Church, 898 Henderson Hwy., East Kildonan.
