LEONARD SIDNEY WEBB 1914 - 2002 Peacefully on Wednesday, October 23, 2002, with his family at his side, at the Lions Prairie Manor, Len Webb passed away at the age of 88 years. A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, October 25, at 1:00 p.m. in McKenzie United Church, Portage la Prairie, followed immediately by a reception in the auditorium. Interment will follow in the family plot in Hillside Cemetery. Mr. Webb was born and raised in the East End of London, England, where he learned the standards of decency, loyalty and hard work that he followed all his life. He met his wife in the same neighbourhood and they were married on April 30, 1938. Like so many of his countrymen, he was called to war in 1939 and spent six years in the infantry, serving in Africa and Italy. He attained the rank of Lance Sergeant and was awarded Two Oak leaves as he was mentioned in two dispatches. Dad immigrated to Winnipeg in 1948 with his wife and two young daughters, where he practiced his profession of furrier, until his retirement. He was a member of The Queens Own Cameron Highlanders Reserve for 11 years. He was a wonderful dancer and it was a joy to watch him and Bea on the dance floor. He loved the water and the outdoors and spent many years enjoying the cottage he built at Hillside Beach, where he and Bea spent many happy times with their grandchildren. Len and Bea were members of the Seniors Choir in Winnipeg, and Portage la Prairie for many years and also the Herman Prior Center in Portage la Prairie. Len was a good husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbour. Alzheimers Disease took much of Dad from us before we were ready to part with him, but right to the end you could still see his strength of spirit and he often had a smile for you. Good-bye Dad, safe journey. We will miss, but always remember you with great love and gratitude. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife of 64 years Bea; daughters, Marion (Jack) and Janet (Ed) grandchildren, Jackie (Russell), Heather (Ric), Joe (Kellie), Stephen (Donna), Brian (Lori) and Paul; great-grandchildren, John, Daniel, Alicia, Janette, Kyle, Nicole, Cody, Taner and Dylan; brother Jim of London, England; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, six brothers, five sisters, three half-sisters and a great-granddaughter Amanda. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at the Lions Prairie Manor in Portage. If friends so desire contributions to the Alzheimers Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 would be appreciated. Arrangements are by: Ronald Moffit Memorial Services 856-3487
