Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) CHARLES CASWILL October 14, 1915 - October 11, 2002 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Caswill on Friday, October 11, 2002, just three days short of his 87th birthday, after a lengthy struggle with cancer. Bob will be dearly missed by Joan, his loving wife for over 57 years; and his children, Gail (Ron) Richert, Wendy (Karl) Jurkowski, and Bob (Pam) Caswill. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, Jeff and Jon Richert, Steven (Susan), Karen, and David Jurkowski, and Christopher and Melissa Caswill; as well as his new great-grandson Wesley Jurkowski. He is also survived by his sister Lily Clegg, in Australia, other family members in Canada and overseas, as well as many close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Lily Caswill; and a sister Edna Pryce. Bob was born and raised in Winnipeg, where he graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute. As a young man during the Depression, Bob spent four years in England working and playing hockey, returning to Canada until 1941, when he enlisted in the R.C.A.F. and served in Bomber Command during the Second World War, attaining the rank of flying officer. After the war, Bob started a career with the Canadian Wheat Board in Winnipeg where he worked until his retirement in 1977. He enjoyed a happy retirement, travelling, appreciating his home and family, participating in the activities of the Wartime Pilots and Observers Association, as well as pursuing his lifelong interest in sports. He loved life and lived it as fully as possible for as long as his health would permit. We appreciate all the kindness shown to Bob and the family by the wonderful nurses and health care attendants who took such great care of him on N3 - West in Palliative Care at Concordia Hospital. We also wish to thank Dr. B. Komenda, Dr. Pat Harris, and Dr. M. Krahn for their compassionate medical treatment of Bob. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service was held on Wednesday, October 16 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Concordia Hospital Foundation (please specify Palliative Care) 1095 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 3S8 or to a charity of your choice.
