HELEN CHASNEY Helen passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on October 23, 2002, at the age of 98 years. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. William Chasney; her parents, Casimir and Eugenia Polec; and her brothers, Dr. Edward M. Polec of Wynyard, SK, Ted and Bernard who both served in the RCAF. She is survived by her son William, daughter Joan (Douglas) Johnston, sister-in-law Joyce Polec and many nieces and nephews. In her earlier years Helen was an accomplished pianist and taught prior to her marriage. In 1934 she was appointed Regent of the New Chapter of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire. In 1935 Helen and her husband were patrons of the Canadian Polish Society. She was a volunteer for what was then Community Chest for many years and a member of the Catholic Womens League. She entertained for many activities on behalf of the Holy Ghost Church. Helen loved life, enjoyed her Florida winters and considered her Winnipeg Beach cottage her second home. She will be missed. Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helens memory to The Rainbow Society, 171 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, or the Winnipeg Humane Society.
