ERNEST "RED" KURZ 1927 - 2002 It is with great sadness we announce that on October 23, 2002, Ernest "Red" Kurz, passed away peacefully at Health Sciences Centre at the age of 74. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Ted, Wally and Arv. Red leaves to mourn his loving wife Thelma; son Eric (Sally) daughters, Linda (Peter) and Tracy (Chaz). His memory lives on through his grandchildren, Chris, Lisa and Mason; great-grandson Kelly; along with his many friends and family. Red loved ice hockey. He had a very successful hockey career in Europe from 1946 to 1960 in which he played defence and captained numerous elite teams. At age 23, he was the youngest player/coach in British hockey. In 1960, Red returned to Canada and worked as a sales manager for Russell Motors and Midway Chrysler, where he became a major master salesman. Red retired early enough to be able to enjoy his family, time at the lake and travelling to various hot spots, but his love of making a "good deal" never ended. Red also dedicated his time to focus on his grandchildren and pass on his wit, kindness and encouragement. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 29 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Bartholomews Church, 881 Autumnwood Dr., with Rev. Canon Bill Oakley officiating, reception to follow. The family would like to thank the medical staff at Health Sciences Centre for their care and to all that made his last months peaceful. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bartholomews Memorial Fund, Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of ones choice. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
