Mrs. Borton was born on January 27, 1918, and was raised on a farm near Katrime, Manitoba. She took her high school in Dauphin, following which she moved to Winnipeg to take her hairdressing course. She married Vic Rehill in 1942. Evelyn continued to work as a hairdresser during her marriage and following Vics death 10 years later. Evelyn married Fred Borton in 1955. Together they raised Dave and Joan. They were involved in the community of East Kildonan. They spent many happy times at "the lake". They also enjoyed travelling together to Hawaii, Barbados and Mexico with their friends. Always an active person, after Fred died in 1971 Evelyn was involved in bowling and enjoyed gardening, walking, crafts and crocheting. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and travelled with her cousin Mary. Evelyn will be remembered for her strong will, independence and sense of humour. She is survived by her son Dave (Doreen) daughter Joan; and grandson Brent. Besides her immediate family, she is survived by her sisters-in-law Betty McLachlan and Evelyn Slater. She was predeceased by her first husband Vic Rehill; second husband Fred Borton, brothers Ernie and Norman McLachlan; sister-in-law Norma; and Freds three sisters and four brothers. She leaves many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and numerous members of the extended Clark and Rehill families. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2002, at 1:00 p.m., in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel at 232 Kennedy Street. Internment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Special thanks to nieces Donna Kozicki (Norman) and Donaleen Gilchrist (Larry) and Mums "Bright light", Elinor Dahl - she looked forward to and loved your visits.
