Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCIEN "LOU" CHABOT It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather, brother and friend, Lucien Richard Chabot. He went peacefully to our Lord, on Sunday, October 27, 2002, at the age of 72. Lucien was born in St. Malo, MB on October 10, 1930 and was raised in the town of Marchand, MB. A dedicated father and husband, he was happily married to Bertha Chabot (1934-1994) for 42 years. They moved to Winnipeg in 1952, where they started their family. They were blessed with three children, Fernand (Chubb), Louanne and Yvonne. In 1958 Lucien, or Lou as he was known to friends and family, began his own trucking business which he independently owned and operated until 1969. In 1969 the company became incorporated as L. Chabot Enterprises Ltd., the name under which it continues to operate to this day. Between the years of 1970-1976 he continued to operate independently, slowly growing from a one man owner/operator company to a flourishing enterprise. In 1976, he was joined by his son in what became, and continues to be a thriving family business. Lous accomplishments are many; he was a partner in Central Sandblasting and Decorating. Organized and developed Selkirk Quarries Inc. and Rock Engineering. Lou helped coordinate the development of these and other companies through the years, with friends and family. Lous favourite pastime, other than work, was his enjoyment of a gamble. He could often be found at Club Regent, where he had earned the name of "Lucky Lou". His visits to southern destinations often ended in Las Vegas where he liked to say "the atmosphere there cleared his head". Lou leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his friend and companion Judy Cannon; son Chubb (May) daughters, Louanne and Yvonne (Chuck Neufeld) grandchildren, Nicole, Joel, Amanda, Christopher and Sean. Also left to lament his loss are brothers, Maurice, Archie, Wilfred, Rene; and sisters, Florence (Giesbrecht), Clemance (Delorme), Germaine (Lepine), Irene (Nikkel) and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Leo. He will be deeply missed by all. Pallbearers are Archie Chabot, Wilfred Chabot, Jerry Chabot, Rene Chabot, Al Collignon and Chuck Abramson. Honorary pallbearers are Maurice Chabot and Mickey Beauchemin. THE MEASURE OF A MAN Not - "How did he die?" But - "How did he live?" Not - "what did he gain?" But - "What did he give?" These are the units to measure the worth Of a man as a man, regardless of birth. Not - "What was his station?" But - "Had he a heart?" And - "How did he play his God-given part? Was he ever ready with a word of good cheer, To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?" Not - "what was his church?" Nor - "What was his creed?" But - "Had he befriended those really in need?" Not - "What did the sketch in the newspaper say?" But - "How many were sorry when he passed away?" Prayers will be held on Thursday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph The Worker Parish, 505 Brewster St. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 1 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Joseph The Worker Parish. Interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. We ask that in lieu of flowers, donations in Lous memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of ones choice.
