JOHN R. ROBERTSON Jackie passed away after a brief illness at the St. Adolphe Nursing Home on Wednesday, October 23, 2002, with his mother at his side. Jackie was born in Winnipeg on February 14, 1943 and was the only child of Jessie Robertson who cared for him his entire life. He was predeceased by his father John D. Williams and his stepfather Charles Robertson. Jackie enjoyed his attendance at the Kinsmen Notre Dame School, ARC Industries, Waso Industries and lastly Cornerstone Enterprises in Gimli. He lived in Winnipeg most of his life except for the last eight years where he resided with his mother at the Gimli Rotary Towers. In his earlier years he spent his summers at Clear Lake in the loving care of his grandma and aunt Marg. In later years, he spent his winters in Florida with his mother and other family members where he really liked going to Disney World and the sea shore at Cocoa Beach. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 30 at 2:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. Viewing will take place one hour prior to the commencement of the service. Interment will follow in Waverley Memorial Gardens. A special thanks to the staff at Cornerstone where Jackie probably spent his happiest years. Jessie and her family express their deepest appreciation for those that cared for Jackie for the past nine months with love and kindness, especially the staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Unit 5 Victoria Hospital, the T.A.C.T. unit at Deer Lodge and all the people at St. Adolphe Nursing Home for making his last days as comfortable as possible.
