MARY STEPUSHYN Mary Stepushyn, of Inwood, passed away peacefully with her family at her side at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital on October 25, 2002. Mary was born in Plain Lake, AB on January 20, 1919 the eldest daughter of Joseph and Annie Kostyniuk. She was predeceased by her sister Tillie and by her brother Nick of Edmonton, AB. She leaves to mourn her passing, Peter, her beloved husband of 64 years; daughter Lorna (Richard Priestley) of Teulon; sons, Wilfred (Diane) of Winnipeg, Dr. Kenneth (Donna) of Victoria, BC; grandchildren, Robert (Traci), Thomas, David (Michelle), Douglas (Katherine) Priestley of Winnipeg, James (Kelly) Priestley of Seattle, WA, Nicholas, Megan, Jessica Stepushyn, of Victoria; brother John Kostyniuk of Two Hills, AB; sister-in-law Pauline Batiuk of Edmonton; and great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Daniel, Kathleen, Stephen, Cassandra, Jeffery, Mira, Veronika and Steffania Priestley. Mary was married to Peter Stepushyn, October 22, 1938. They farmed in Alberta until 1945 at which time Mary, Peter and family moved to Inwood where they operated a general store until 1963, they then returned to farming until retirement. Mary was dedicated to her community. She joined the Womens Institute in 1946 and was an active participant locally, regionally and provincially. Mary enjoyed curling and attended bonspiels with her team from Inwood. She had a love for gardening. Her yard was a beautiful and welcoming place and has frequently served as a backdrop for wedding photographs. Mary along with her beloved dog Chico spent many pleasurable hours listening to the birds singing and admiring the flower gardens that were so carefully maintained. Prayers will take place at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 31 at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon, MB. Funeral service will be held at Inwood Memorial Hall at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 1. If friends so desire donations may be made in Marys name to Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Inwood, MB. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
