He was born in Portage la Prairie, MB on October 10, 1928 and was predeceased by his parents, Samuel Jason and Mary Ellen. Earl is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years (October 24), Betty; his three children, Sharon (Richard), Wendy (Rick) and Carter; his grandson Alex; brothers, Alfred (Verna) and Gerald (Susan) brother-in-law Glen (Nancy) and nieces and nephews, Linda, Kevin, Erin, Brenda, Trevor, Janice, Keith and Kim. Earl spent his life as a truck driver, living with his family in Northern Alberta for six years, returning to Manitoba in 1963 where he bought a small farm and eventually started his own small gravel operation which he ran for the last twenty years with his son. His love of trucking kept him working well past retirement age and numerous major surgeries and health problems. He always looked forward to the deer hunting season, this year was no exception, and he enjoyed the time spent each morning with his friends at the local coffee shop. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, October 31 (today) at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Annes Roman Catholic Church, Petersfield with Fr. Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in the Church yard cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Earls memory can be made to a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
