JOSEPH P. KENNEDY Peacefully, on Tuesday, October 15, 2002, at Riverview Health Centre, Joseph P. Kennedy, aged 85, of Winnipeg. Joe had led an interesting and varied life. He was a long-time pet shop owner in Winnipeg and had an abiding interest in the world of nature. He had been an actor, journalist, and traveller, and to the end was an interesting raconteur. A poet as well, his book The Chameleon Poet has just been published. Joseph was the fourth of five children born in Winnipeg to John Kennedy and Mary Elizabeth (MacKenzie) Kennedy. He was predeceased, in 1991, by his wife of 40 years, Hilda (Bowling) Kennedy (widow of the late Fred McQuade). He was also predeceased by his sisters, Mary Brown (Ted) and Jean Liebzeit (Frank) and his brothers, Jimmy and Donald, and a half-brother, John Kennedy. Joe is survived by six nieces, Jane Liebzeit, Donna Lord (Doug), Carol Huminicki (Pat), Patsy Davey, Sheila Burland (Bill) and Rosemary Quaye (Louis) and five nephews, Frank Liebzeit, Jim Liebzeit (Kelley), Dan Liebzeit (Jennine), Ed Brown, and Brian Kennedy. As well, he is survived by 24 great- and nine great-great-nieces and nephews. After cremation, a private memorial service with the family was held at La Barriere Park.
