SOPHIE FOLIA CHRISTIE (DUBAS) Sophie Christie of Beacon Hill Lodge, Winnipeg, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2002 at the age of 95. Sophie was born on August 20, 1907 in Gonor, MB, the third child of Roman and Sanka Dubas. Sophie married Carl Christie in 1938 and was predeceased by him; her younger brother John Dubas; sisters, Helen Lechow, Anna Teplycki and Mary Hewko. Five nieces and nephews survive her, Norman Tepley (Barbara), Vero Beach, FL, Lilian Warwaruk (Alec), Winnipeg, Marge Nelson (Carl), Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Olga Diakun (Mike), London, ON and John Lechow (Doreen), Winnipeg. Sophies life with her husband Carl was comfortably spent in their Home Street house and Winnipeg Beach cottage where the hospitality and good times will always be remembered by family and friends. However, Sophie will best be remembered by everyone for making her lifetime a career of generous concern for the welfare of others, particularly in their times of personal hardship, illness and distress. Sophie will be sadly missed but forever remembered, by all who were close to her. Special thanks to Dr. M. Burke and the care staff at Beacon Hill Lodge. A funeral service, with Rev. Don McIntyre officiating, will take place at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., on Wednesday, October 30, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery.
