WILLIAM (BILL) SABEL July 9, 1917 - October 27, 2002 Quietly on Sunday, October 27, after a brief illness, at the age of 85, Bill passed away at the Johnson Memorial Hospital in Gimli, MB. He leaves behind his son Herb and partner Paulette; son Gord and wife Andie; daughter Lynn and husband Doug Kornek; and grandchildren, Kim (Rob), Darren, Marla (fiance Trevor), Chris, Lisa, Larry and Lauren; and great-grandchildren, Eric, Patrick and Robert. He also leaves his sister Nellie McDonald and brother Cliff Sabel and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Sybil, May and Doris; and brother Henry. Bill, a quiet, gentle man, was born and raised in the Selkirk area and loved the outdoors, whether it was farming in his youth, working construction during his lifetime or puttering around the yard in his retirement. He also took great joy in spending time with his grandchildren. At his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 1 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Andrews on the Red Church (corner of River Road and St. Andrews Road). Following the service, his ashes will be interred with his grandfather, William Turner Sabel, in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the paramedics and staff at Gimli Hospital and Dr. R.C. Patel for their kindness and compassion. A special thanks to Lyle and Vangie Johnson and his friends at Vesterland Villa. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
