ANN CECILIA CALVERT 1920 - 2002 Born in Liverpool, England to William Lyon Blease and Harriott (Davies). She met her husband Zdenek Peter Calvert (Rybka) in Czechoslovakia while on a music scholarship, after the Second World War they were married and immigrated to Canada with their three children. In Canada they lived in Regina then in Manitoba in Roblin, Deloraine, Winnipeg, Vita, Rossburn and finally Winnipeg. Mom played and taught the piano for the next 30 years including University of North Dakota in Bottineau, ND. She and Peter imparted their love of music wherever they went, their belief that opera should be appreciated by everyone led them to put on a production of "Carmen" in English, by the Winnipeg Opera Company in Winnipeg in the late 70s. She worked at Eatons selling fine furniture and later at Wilsons Furniture. As arthritis took over her body she had several joint replacements. Throughout it all her belief in God and her courage gave her strength. Her always willingness to help others left mom with many lasting friendships. She was predeceased by Peter in 1991. She is survived by her three children and grandson, the twins, Deno (Judy) Calvert, Tusi (Bruce) Elliott and Eliska (Gary) and grandson Colten. Service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, November 2 at 2:30 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Arthritis Society of Manitoba.
