ROSE MAKSYMYK On Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at the age of 88, Rose passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. Rose was born on August 14, 1914 in the community known as Malonton, MB. She lived with her parents, Mary and Dmytro Maksymyk until she married Arthur Dufresne. Her young marriage was short as the calling of war separated them forever. However, Rose was blessed with her only daughter Audrey. Rose had lived a very humble life working in the hospital industry as she enjoyed a passion for cooking. She owned a coffeehouse, worked at the Winnipeg Arena cafeteria until her retirement at the age of 65. However, age didnt slow her down. Following her retirement from the Winnipeg Arena Rose worked at the Masonic Temple for another 12 years in the catering department until the age of 77. Rose enjoyed camping, fishing and travelling to Europe with her longtime companion Jim until his passing. Rose shared her passion for fishing with her grandchildren and nephews, Jim and Nick Kostiuk. Her passion for cooking is demonstrated through her daughter and granddaughters. She leaves to mourn her memory, daughter Audrey Landygo (Nick) grandchildren, Kathy Manitowich (Terry), Darryl Landygo (Gordana), Jason Landygo (Fatima), Sharlene Garlinski (Brad) and great-grandchildren, Kyle, Tianna and Victoria Landygo; sisters, Lee Craigie, Ollie Kostiuk, Nell Shewchuk (Bill) brothers, Steve, Joe and Paul Maksymyk (Doreen) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Dmytro; longtime companion Jim Mills; and sister Ann; sisters-in-law, Minnie Maksymyk, Elizabeth Maksymyk; and brothers-in-law, John Urcheson and Bill Craigie. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St., Rev. John Melnyk officiating. Interment to follow at Pleasant Home Cemetery.
