Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySTANLEY GEORGE LAVAL WESLEY July 30, 1943 - October 27, 2002 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Stanley George (Laval) Wesley, 59 years of age, on the early morning of October 27, 2002. He was predeceased by his father Samuel Wesley in 1991; and his sister Dorothy in 1990. He is survived by his loving mother Emilda Wesley; Georgina, beloved wife of 32 years whom he met when she was 15 years old; and four loving sons, Stanley Jr. (Lori), Warren (Andrea), Jason (Stephanie), and Jeffrey, all of Winnipeg; and daughter Roxanne (Conrad) of Aroland, ON; grandchildren, Payton, Avery, Shelby, Talon, India, Jeffery (Chachos) and Addison; foster children, Agnes, Anthony, Michael and Thomas. Stanley leaves behind brothers and sisters, Robert (Daisy), David (special friend Jean), Frances (Fred) all of Thunder Bay, Joseph (Winnipeg), Annie, Mary Theresa (Roland), Stella all of Nakina, Lucia (George), Steve (Shelley) of Longlac, Yvonne (Eric) and Alice (Kevin) of Toronto, ON, Louise of Kenora and Helen (Les) of Whitefish Bay, ON and a lifelong friend and adopted brother Lindsay (Verna) Legarde of Thunder Bay. He is also survived by his loving mother-in-law Dorothy (Gilbert) Vincent, Elvis, Gendreau Jr. of Ebb and Flow, MB, Sonny (Sharon) of Yorkton, SK, Glen (Laurie), Lorna of Winnipeg, Dolores (Graham) of Prince Edward Island, Evelyn of St. Rose du Lac, and Genevieve of Ebb and Flow and many aunts and uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Born in Longlac, ON on July 30, 1943, Stanley spent most of his life working for the Canadian National Railway. He started working at the early age of 14 years old as a baggage handler and served as an operator in Oba, Longlac, Nakina, Calstock, Armstrong, and Hornepayne before he became a Railway Traffic Controller in Toronto and in Winnipeg, where he eventually took an early retirement at the age of 55. He received his formal education in Residential Schools; St. Marys in Kenora and at the Assiniboine High School, Winnipeg. He continued to further his education in Thunder Bay at Kings Business College. After retirement, he achieved a diploma in accounting. Stanley was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His greatest passion was his family and spending time with his grandchildren, yet making time for his brothers and sisters and friends. He cared a lot for children and was a foster parent to many throughout his life. The Aboriginal community in Toronto honoured him for his humanitarian work. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He had a great and rare brand of humour. He always shared jokes with everyone. Stanley Laval loved spending time with his high school buddies and CN co-workers who knew him as SGW. He enjoyed being around people, so much that he welcomed strangers into his home. His personal touch always made one feel so good. Listening to blues music was his favourite pastime. Many people who knew Stanley will always remember him as a fun loving person, both compassionate and funny. Whenever you met Stanley, you were sure to go away with a smile on your face. Stanley, loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, and friend Your journey on earth, though short, is completed God called you to another life We will always love you and you will live in our hearts, forever. Visitation will be Thursday, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. with prayers at 7:30 p.m. at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, 85 Kirkbridge. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 1, at Mary Mother of the Church Parish, with Rev. Fr. Gerry Ward officiating.
