JESSIE KOZIER (nee BORYS) It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Jessie Kozier, who passed away peacefully at Grace Hospital on Thursday, October 31, 2002 at age 79. Jessie is survived by her loving family: her husband Eugene of 56 years; her sons, Dennis (Eleanor), Ken (Shirley), Greg; and her daughter Mary Ann Kawchuk (Larry) her sister Kay Borys; and brother Alex Borys; her grandchildren, Karen Zilinek (Steve), Lisa Smorang (Dave), Carolyn Kozier, Christopher, Michael and Daniel Kozier, and Amanda and Michael Kawchuk. Jessie was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary Borys; her brother Tony (1972) sister Alice (1977) and brother Bert (2001). Jessie was born on June 26, 1923 and raised in Winnipeg. She attended Cecil Rhodes school and graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate. She worked at Crown Cap for six years until she was married and started a family. She always made the care of her family her first priority. For most of her life she attended Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church. For the last few years she had attended Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. She often attended noon mass at the Franciscan Friary and sometimes led the prayers after mass. Prayers will be said on Sunday, November 3 at 7:00 p.m. at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church, 965 Boyd Ave. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Monday, November 4, at 10:00 a.m., also at the church, with Rt. Rev. Mitrat G. Oucharyk and Rev. Deacon M. Kohuch officiating, followed by interment at All Saints Cemetery.
