SOPHIE KIRBY It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Sophie Kirby, aged 80, on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at the Golden Links Lodge. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, daughter Sharon and her husband Bud Danelak, with their daughter Andrea of Lorette, MB; son Daniel and his wife Joanne of Ottawa, ON; son Russell and his wife Anne-Marie, with their children, Emerson and Olivia of Kelowna, BC. She also leaves two sisters, Marie Cummings of Moose Jaw, SK and Anne Thomasson of Ottawa; and a brother John Danish of Grand Forks, BC; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1995; her mother Wasylyna; her father Dmytro; her sisters, Dora and Lena; her brothers, Bill, Harry, Alex and George; and three siblings in infancy. Mom was born in Kilkenny, MB on June 28, 1922. She married dad in Winnipeg on September 6, 1947 and they made their home in St. Boniface until dads passing in 1995. She spent most of her married life as a homemaker and loving mother to her three children. She loved fishing and spent many happy retirement hours with dad at their favourite fishing spots. She excelled at the art of Ukrainian Easter egg painting and her pysanky graced the homes of many of her family and friends. She was a devoted grandmother who took great pleasure in spoiling her grandchildren. She will be missed. Cremation has taken place. In accordance with Sophies wishes, there will be no service. A private family burial will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff of Golden Links Lodge, especially those from the Special Needs Unit for their kindness and compassion while caring for mom. If friends so desire, a donation may be made in Sophies memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550
