WILLIAM GARETH EVANS Peacefully on October 31, 2002 at Riverview Health Centre, Gareth Evans passed away with his family at his side. He is survived by his sons, David (Nancy), Rick (Denise) and grandchildren, Jonathan (Nicole), Cynthia, Heather, Melissa and Paul. His wife, Gladys May Evans, predeceased him October 28, 2001. Gareth was born August 16, 1916 in Kemnay, MB. In 1937 he graduated as a Pharmacist from the University of Manitoba. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1941 and was discharged in 1945. He was actively engaged in the retail pharmacy until 1949, on joining the sales department of the Pharmaceutical Company of Burroughs and Wellcome Ltd., until retirement in 1981. In September 1944 he married Gladys M. Fletcher and made their permanent residence in Winnipeg. He was a member of several curling clubs, of the Red River Drug Rangers, Windsor Park United Church, becoming the first Clerk of Session when the church was officially organized in 1959. He was also an active member of the Board for several years. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Health Centre for their loving care. Thanks to family and friends for their love and support. Thanks to Rev. Dr. Sharon Wilson for her never-ending love and caring. Interment will be held Friday, November 22 at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (South of the Royal Canadian Mint) at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at Windsor Park United Church, 1062 Autumnwood Dr., at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation may be made in Gareths memory to Riverview Health Centre Foundation, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4 or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
