MONA BARNES (nee DRYSDALE) On October 31, 2002 we lost our dear wife and mother Mona Barnes (nee Drysdale). Survived by her husband John; children, Len (Melanie), Donna (Wayne) Deans and Ken (Bev) and grandchildren, Nicole, Kim and Dan Barnes, Jennifer, Jeff and Jill Deans; and brother-in-law Bob Ferguson (Carrie). Predeceased by her brother Len and beloved sister Margaret. Mom was above all a people person. Her family was a source of great pride as was her Icelandic heritage. Card parties of bridge with friends and raucous games of multiple hand solitaire with all the family provided laughter and entertainment. Her trademark "sayings" will never be forgotten. When babies arrived, she crocheted many a shawl and later afghans for all who asked. She began her long sales career with the opening of Sears Polo Park and retired from there in 1983. Happy vacations included winters in Florida and summers in Gimli where many lasting friendships were made. A gentle person with a winning smile, Mona will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9 at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway.
