ANTONIO FURTADO 1927 - 2002 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Antonio Furtado, at the age of 75, on Friday, November 1, 2002, at the Health Sciences Centre. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Clara; children, John, Jaime, George (Barb), and Elizabeth (Arthur) grandchildren, Stephany, Alia, Michael, Davin, Joshua, Brendin, Selena and Nicholas. He also leaves two sisters, Maria Dos Anjos (Virginio) and Maria de Lourdes (Antonio) as well as many family and friends in Canada, USA and Portugal. Antonio was born in Rosario, Sao Miguel, on July 15, 1927. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 and made Winnipeg his home in 1961. He worked for CN and finally began his career at the Health Sciences Centre Dietary Department in 1963 where he retired as a chef 25 years later. He enjoyed cooking, movies and the time he spent with his grandchildren and family. We would like to thank Dr. S. Ahmed, the staff at CancerCare, the staff at Health Sciences Centre Home Care, Ward GH3, Dr. Nguyen, family and friends for all their kindness, support and the wonderful care that was given. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, November 5 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin St. N. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 6 at Immaculate Conception Parish. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9.
