Harry touched so many liveshe will be remembered as an inspiration by all who had the privilege of knowing him and having him as a friend. Predeceased by his wife Vimy on October 12, 1998, he is lovingly remembered by his only daughter Carole and husband John Anderson; granddaughter Janelle Rose Anderson; and sister Florence Pollreis. Harry was born on November 3, 1912, in Winnipeg to parents Gordon and Gertrude Rose. He resided there until 1929 when he moved to Dand, drove the school van and completed his education. On November 10, 1937, he married Vimy Hathaway and they took up residence in the Rosser area where they farmed until 1975. They then moved to Winnipeg where they enjoyed many happy years of retirement together, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in 1997. Harrys recreational passions were bowling and golf. In addition to his aptitude for sports, he was a great organizer and conversationalist. When he passed away, he was still running the Polo Park Monday afternoon Golden Age bowling league from his hospital bed. He was best known for his sense of humour, generous spirit, and love of life. Carole, John, and Janelle would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to those who visited Harry during his stay at Grace Hospital and to the 200 friends who helped him celebrate his 90th birthday on September 29. You really made his day! Funeral service was held on Thursday, October 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with Rev. Gary Clark officiating. Interment and reception followed. Jim Cretney, George Feher, Joe Hutton, Ron Hudson, Bill Muir, and Cecil Patterson served as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association 629 McDermot Ave., 2nd Floor, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6. Count your garden by the flowers Never by the leaves that fall; Count your days by golden hours Dont remember clouds at all. Count your nights by stars not shadows; Count your years with smiles not tears; Count your blessings not your troubles; Count your age by friends not years. Harry truly was one of a kind. We love you and will miss you dearly! Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
