CHARLES JOHNSON 1911 - 2002 Peacefully, on Saturday, November 2, 2002 at the St. Boniface General Hospital with his family at his side, Charlie passed away at the age of 91 years. Charlie was predeceased by his wife Mary in 1998. He is survived by his daughter Sandy and husband Fred of Vancouver; his son Ken and wife Maureen of Winnipeg; and grandchildren, Kevin and wife Suzanne and Susan all of Vancouver. He had a long and active life. Charlie was born, grew up and lived in the Elmwood area. He was very involved with the Kelvin Community Centre where he coached ball and volunteered. Charlie was also a long time member of the Elmwood Curling Club. One of his greatest enjoyments was playing golf, which he did right up to his 90th year. He was a long time member of the Transcona Golf Club and was very proud to have shot less than his age when he was 85. Charlie was a member of the Elmwood and East St. Paul Senior Clubs. He attended both regularly to play pool, cards and socialize with his many friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Giannouli and the staff at St. Boniface Intensive Care for their efforts and caring. Cremation has taken place and at Charlies instruction, no memorial service will be held. The family would ask that all Charlies many friends take a minute and remember a kind, caring and active friend who enjoyed life to the end and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, a donation in Charlies memory may be made to the St. Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation, Room D - 1003, 409 Tache Ave, Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6, who cared for and helped Charlie immensely over the past year.
