IRENE ROSE OLSON (nee RIMBERG) With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grand-mother at her home on November 1, 2002 with her family at her side. Irene will be sadly missed by her four daughters, Karen Sedgwick, Sharon Kelly, Robyn Boyer (Todd) and Jayne Olson; her grandchildren, Coleen Mateychuk (Duane ), Jason Olson, Rob and Paul Sedgwick, Laura and Anders Boyer; great-grandchildren, Riley and Kaitlyn Mateychuk. She also leaves to mourn her sister Inga Mackenzie (Doug) sisters-in-law, Mavis McMillan and Lorraine Crossan (Hugh) and many other close relatives and dear friends. She will also be sadly missed by her faithful dog Juli. Irene was predeceased by her loving husband Doug; parents Frank and Esther Rimberg; son-in-law Rick Sedgwick, and brother-in-law Don McMillan. Irene was born in Winnipeg on October 28, 1930. Growing up, Irene spent her summers at Victoria Beach, working at the bakery where she met and later married Doug. Irene and Doug began their life together in Elmwood and later built their home in North Kildonan. Irene enjoyed entertaining, spending time with her family and friends-all who enjoyed her wonderful cooking. Irene had many fond memories camping at Falcon Lake and Petersfield, and in her later years at the cottage at Victoria Beach. Other interests included, bowling, golfing, walking her dog and travelling. Many happy hours were spent at various tables playing cards with friends and family. Irene also enjoyed watching and caring for the birds, squirrels and rabbits in her own backyard. Memorial service is to be held at Klassen Funeral Chapel, 1897 Henderson Hwy. at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6. Honorary pallbearers are brothers-in-law, Doug MacKenzie and Hugh Crossan, grandsons Jason Olson, Rob and Paul Sedgwick and Anders Boyer. Many thanks to Dr.J. Bergen, Dr. A. Maksymiuk, Mona and Nancy, Dr. M. Garcia and Anne, for their excellent care and compassion for our mother. With respect to Irenes love of animals, if friends so desire, they may make donations in her memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3.
