PETER SHPAK Suddenly on Friday, November 1, 2002 at the Concordia Hospital, in Winnipeg, Peter Shpak, beloved husband of Diane, of Winnipeg, passed away at the age of 59 years. Besides his wife Diane, with whom he shared 34 years, he is survived by one son, Darren and friend Brandy; and a daughter Tammy and friend Ken. He is also survived by two brothers, Maurice (Irene) and Johnny; four sisters, Mary (Earl) Masterson, Olga Chomica, Alice (Walter) Niven and Natalie Shpak, as well as many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Eva Shpak; and four brothers, Steve, Mike, Adam and Ronald. Peter was born on September 23, 1943 at Senkiw, MB. He met and in 1968 married Diane Samborski, and together established their home in Winnipeg where Peter was employed as a construction worker for Caron Construction in Headingly for approximately 25 years. He made a change in his career and took up employment with Canada Post and for the next 12 years delivered mail to places as far away as Flin Flon and Dryden, ON. Most recently he worked for Podolsky Inc., a trucking firm, as a heavy duty mechanic. His wife and children were the love of his life. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and in his prime, he excelled on the pitchers mound, and was at one point invited to try out for the St. Louis Cardinals Farm Team. In the winter months he enjoyed exploring the outdoors on his power toboggan. He was a very kind individual and loved children. His character had a calming effect on all those that crossed his path. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, November 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel, followed by funeral service on Wednesday, November 6 at 10:30 a.m., also at Loewen Funeral Chapel, #12 Hwy. So., Steinbach, with the Very Rev. Fr. Miron Pozniak officiating. Interment will follow in the Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery at Senkiw. Arrangements by Loewen Funeral Chapel, Steinbach (204) 326-1351.
