BERTHA KLANN It is with deep sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Bertha Klann, age 95 years, with her family by her side at the Luther Home of Winnipeg on Friday, November 1, 2002. Mom is survived by her brother Edward Singbeil and sister-in-law Martha Singbeil; three daughters, Evelyn (Elmer) Patzer of BC, Tillie Schendel of Winnipeg and Myrtle (Cliff) Johnson of IL, USA; five sons, Alfred of Winnipeg, Walter (Lila) of Winnipeg, Rudy (Wilma) of Anola, Erwin (Elaine) of Winnipeg, Helmuth (Eileen) of Winnipeg; daughter-in-law Evelyn of Beausejour; 26 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her husband Karl in 1985; son Arthur in 2001; brothers, Rudolf, Adolf, and Albert Singbeil; sister Anna Guderjan; daughter-in-law Agnes Klann; and grandchildren, Jo-Ann Schendel, Larry, Richard and Alvin Klann. Mom was caring and hardworking, looking after the family and working on the farm with her garden. She was also very passionate with making patchwork quilts and raising geese for her feather pillows and quilts. Mom was born in Russia. Her parents were Karl Ludwig and Otillie Singbeil. She came to Canada in 1927 and married Karl Klann in 1927. Mom farmed in the Thalberg area for 44 years, moving to Winnipeg in 1970. A very special thanks to all the staff of Luther Home for taking such good care of Mom. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 6 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. Viewing will be prior to the service. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the Glen Eden Reception Centre. Pallbearers will be her six grandsons: Jeff Johnson, Keith Johnson, Ryan Klann, Ron Klann, Kelly Klann, and Rob Klann. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
