GLADYS CHRISTINE NIXON (nee STEWART) January 26, 1937 - November 3, 2002 After a courageous battle with cancer, Gladys Nixon passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital at the age of 65 years. Gladys leaves to mourn her beloved husband of 47 years, Ken; sons, Robert (Marlene), Mark, Tim (Daphne) beloved brother George Stewart (Pearl) loving sisters, Isobelle Coldwell (Roy), Ruth Coldwell (Bill), Glenda McDougall; mother-in-law Clara Hemming (Red) numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many relatives and dear close friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Illa and Alex Stewart. She was a devoted wife and mother and a true friend to all. Gladys was happiest spending her summers with her husband at Black Lake. As well, she enjoyed making crafts and going to craft fairs. She was an active member of the St. Stanislaus Church in East Selkirk The family wishes to thank the care givers for their gentle care shown to Gladys. Prayers will be said on Thursday, November 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk with cremation to follow. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 8 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, East Selkirk, with Fr. Jerry Talarski officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in the East Selkirk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gladys memory to CancerCare Manitoba Room 109-675 McDermot Ave. Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. "On the wings of an Angel May she find comfort there" Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
