ANN C. FOLKESTONE February 18, 1909 - October 31, 2002 On October 31, 2002 at the Personal Care Home, Flin Flon, MB, Ann passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, following a brief illness. She maintained her sharp mind right to her death. A celebration of Anns life will be held at St. Peter and St. James Church, 74 Church St., on Thursday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harry Rose officiating. Cremation burial at Hillside Cemetery. Ann is survived by her only child Elizabeth Ann (Bette) Breti (nee Dodge) and son-in-law Al Breti of Regina, SK; her sister Isabel (Dave) Laidlaw, Ottawa, ON; stepdaughter Dorothy Anscomb (nee Folkestone), Winnipeg, MB, and her children, Jody (Bud) Bogacki and Corey (Brigitte) Anscomb; Jody and Buds children, Cody and Christina Bogacki; plus many nieces and nephews. Ann was predeceased by her first husband Ronald L. Dodge in May 1969; her second husband Gunnar Folkestone in June 1990; her parents, Delbert and Elizabeth Ball; brothers, Bert, Lawrence, Delbert, Bernard, Reginald and Ellery; sisters, Bernice and Ella; and niece Helen Ball. Ann was born on February 18, 1909, in Yorkton, SK. After graduating from high school, she was employed briefly by the Singer Sewing Machine Co. in Yorkton and then for five years in Regina. She was transferred to Flin Flon in 1934 when Singer opened their store on Main Street. Ann taught countless people how to sew. Ann married Ronald Dodge on April 2, 1942, and her second husband Gunnar Folkestone on November 30, 1971. She started the first CGIT group in Flin Flon and later became involved with the Girl Guides for many years. She was an active member of St. Peters Anglican Church teaching Sunday school and serving on the Altar Guild. She was also an avid bridge player. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of ones choice. Dadson Funeral Home of Flin Flon is entrusted with the arrangements. 204-687-5821.
