Date of Passing: Nov 02, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKENNETH CHARLES PEARCE Ken passed away peacefully on November 2, 2002, at Deer Lodge Centre. He is survived by Ruth, his wife of 51 years; his children, Wray (Barb), Diane (Glenn), Keith (Eleanor), Sherry, Glen (Jackie), Holly (Eric) and nine grandchildren. Ken also leaves behind his brothers, Harvey, Norman, Benny and their families; the family of his predeceased brother Ralph; as well as his father-in-law Jim Christie and brother-in-law Ron. Ken was born in 1923 and lived his entire life in Winnipeg. He served with the RCAF during the Second World War and graduated in 1950 from the University of Manitoba in Electrical Engineering. Ken worked his entire career with Manitoba Hydro. Dad loved the outdoors, camping and the family cottage at Betula Lake. He enjoyed his long involvement with the Unitarian Church, MTC theatre discussion group, Creative Retirement and the Arthritic Self Help Group. For the past two years he took great pleasure in the day program at Golden West Centennial Lodge. Ken endured many years of pain and the increasing disability of arthritis with stoicism and grace. He was a quiet and good man who exerted a subtle but powerful influence over his family. He will be missed. The family greatly appreciates the superb Home Care team who extended Kens stay at home, with very special thanks to Lorraine for her extraordinary thoughtfulness and concern. Thanks also to the excellent staff at the Veterans Wing at Deer Lodge Centre who made his last month as comfortable as possible. Memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 6, at the Unitarian Church at 603 Wellington Cres. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Unitarian Church Elevator Fund gratefully accepted.
