Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARCEL (CHING) DHEERE 1918 - 2002 It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the death of our devoted and beloved husband, father and grandfather, Marcel (Ching) Dheere on November 5, 2002 at the age of 83 years. After a courageous battle with cancer, Marcel passed away peacefully and with family by his side at the Riverview Health Centre. Loving memories of Marcel will be cherished by his wife of 49 years, Jacqueline; daughters, Marti and Maureen (Doug) Cook; son Doug (Jackie) grandchildren, Jordan, Evan, Katelyn, Noah and Sarah; sisters, Madeline and Georgette (Danny) Samyn; and brother Gus (Joyce). Marcel was predeceased by his parents, Henri and Martha and his sister Mary (Henry) Benoit. Marcel was born in Saint Boniface in 1918 where he resided all his life. His skills as a hockey player allowed him to turn professional in 1940 and to be called up by the Montreal Canadiens in 1943. He lost two seasons while serving his country in the Second World War but returned to play professionally for six more years. Hockey remained a lifelong passion. After his hockey career he was employed for 30 years as a switchman with the CNR. As a husband and father, Dad was always supportive to his family, there when we needed a shoulder to lean on, a word of encouragement or a comforting hug, there to celebrate in our triumphs and to console and guide us through the difficult times. Dads positive and jovial outlook on life helped him to accept the good as well as the not so good. His love of life and fighting spirit was shared with all who knew him and was present to the very end. Dad, your spirit was always willing, will never be forgotten and will forever be a blessing. The family would like to thank the dedicated and compassionate staff of the Riverview Health Centre - 3E and family physician Dr. P. G. Mehta. Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 8 at 2:00 p.m. in the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 778 Archibald St., with Fr. Ron Leger, C.S.V., presiding. Service to terminate at the church. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to CancerCare Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
