DORA (DODIE) ELLEN SMITH (nee CLEMENTS) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved sister, aunt, great aunt and friend Dora (Dodie) Smith on Monday, November 4, 2002 at Riverview Health Center. Dora will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her sisters, Jean Scaife (Allan), Joyce Moore, Kathleen Hancox (Elwyn) and Fay Pease (Allen) sisters and brothers-in-law, Bernice Sheppard (Dick), Edna Pitman, Reg Smith, and Richard Smith (June) along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Dora was predeceased by her beloved husband, the light of her life for 28 years, Ernest H. Smith in 2001; parents, Sam and Edith Clements in 1979 and 2000; niece Charlene Baker (nee Scaife) in 1997; and great-niece Daena Woodland in 1990. Dora was born December 15, 1932 in Winnipeg and grew uip in West Kildonan attending Centennial School. Dora held various positions in the accounting field during her early working years. She married the love of her life Ernie in 1973 and they enjoyed many wonderful years together. Throughout the course of her marriage, Dora was employed by the Hudson Bay Co. and was later a Tupperware representative. Dora was a member of The Cathedral Church of Saint John and was involved in various church activities including the ACW. She was a member of and held numerous offices in the West Kildonan No. 30 Royal Canadian Legion, as well as a member of The 100 Club Inc. She participated with enthusiasm in her curling and bowling leagues. As Doras employment and activities represent, she enjoyed people and cultivated numerous long lasting friendships. Dora was a kind and giving person with a generous heart extending to all family and friends. A celebration of Doras life will be held on Tuesday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. in The Cathedral Church of Saint John, 135 Anderson Ave., Winnipeg, MB with The Very Rev. R. J. (Bob) Osborne officiating. Special thanks to the Doctors and Staff at Concordia Hospital and Riverview Health Center for all the care and kindness extended to Dora and her family during this difficult time. Dora was also very appreciative of the love and support shown to her by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doras memory to Riverview Health Center Palliative Care Unit, 1 Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4, The Cathedral Church of Saint John, 135 Anderson Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2W 5M9 or to a charity of your choice.
