RONALD PAUL JOSEPH COMEAULT Suddenly, in a private plane crash, at Jesup, GA on Wednesday, October 23, 2002, Ronald Comeault passed away at the age of 48 years. Beloved husband of Joanne. Dear father of Justin, Laurier, Stephane and Christian. Son of Olive and the late Napoleon Comeault. Brother of Msgr. Maurice Comeault of Winnipeg, Jules Comeault and Johanne of Aylmer, QC, Guy Comeault (Cheryl) of Ottawa, Diane Labossiere (Francis) of St. Boniface, Lisette Hellgesson (Ulf) of Sweden and Raymond Comeault (Lynne) of St. Boniface. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Ronalds first job after graduating in 1974 from the University of Manitoba was with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. In 1976 he moved to Edmonton to sell fraternal life insurance for the Knights of Columbus. Four years later, the fluently bilingual young businessman was transferred by the Knights to Gatineau, QC. By 1982 Ronald had come to the Sault as Knights of Columbus general agent for northern Ontario, a position he held until 1988. In 1988, Ronald decided to turn his love of flying into a business. He founded BonAir Aviation Ltd., a commercial air service. Along with his aviation business he worked as an investor with RBC Securities. Ronald graduated from the National Hockey League School of Refereeing (1971). He was a trustee and also chairman for the Sault Ste. Marie District Roman Catholic School Board. Ronald was also chairman of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie, French Sector Fund Drive. At the time of his death, Ronald was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degrees, Charter Grand Knight Council 6798 in Winnipegosis, MB, and of the Rotary Club International of Sault Ste. Marie. Ronald was instrumental in bringing 35 Duke owners to the Sault last month for the 15th Annual Duke Flyers Associations Fly In. In a September 30 article, the Sault Stars Rachel Punch reported that it was the first time the event was held outside the United States. Just the day before Ronalds crash, the Sault Star published an editorial commending his involvement with Hope Air, a charity that arranges free air transportation for Canadians who need medical care but cant afford the flight costs. A memorial service was celebrated in Sault Ste. Marie on October 30 and a memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pie de Letellier Roman Catholic Church, Letellier, MB with Msgr.
