OLGA DE VRIES (nee MARCHUK) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Olga De Vries on November 6, 2002, at Vista Park Lodge. Olga was born on June 9, 1911, in Romania. As a teenager, she came to Canada to visit with her brother Michael, a resident of Winnipeg. After his accidental death, Olga remained in Winnipeg. In 1934, she married William De Vries, who predeceased her in 1991. For over 60 years, Olga was a very active member of St. Ivan Suchavsky Greek Orthodox Church. She was a member of the Board of Trustees of the cathedral, the Ladies Society of Olga Kobylanska, and the Brotherhood Association of St. Ivan Suchavsky, as well as vice president of the Sisterhood of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She was proud to be twice named mother of the year. Olga much enjoyed her numerous activities at, and her association, with the church. Loved by so many, Olga was a very special person - loving, strong, generous, honest, and energetic. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, devoted to her family. She will be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Quinn and Regan Bucciol; grandchildren, Bill De Vries Jr., Michael Johnston, and Kerry Bucciol; son-in-law Paul Bucciol; and daughter-in-law Heather De Vries; her children, Bill and Gloria De Vries; the Serbin family; and her many, many loyal friends. At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., the funeral will be held in accordance with Olgas wishes. Officiating will be Very Rev. John A. Melnyk. A private interment will take place, at a later date, beside her beloved Bill, in St. Vital Cemetery. Words cannot express our gratitude for the many kindnesses shown to the De Vries family. We also wish to thank, for their extraordinary care and concern, the staff at Vista Park Lodge. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, remembrances may be made to a charity of choice.
