Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOUGLAS ALEXANDER PHILLIPS February 18, 1922 - November 4, 2002 With profound sadness, after a valiant struggle we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on November 4, 2002 at the St. Boniface Hospital, with his family at his side. Those of his immediate family left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Eileen; son Richard (Marlene) son Barry (Debbie) grandchildren, Kim (Donna), Traecy, Tannis, Debora (Chris) (great-grandchild Jared), David, Kelly, Kassy. Doug also leaves to mourn his brother Mack (Vi) sisters-in-law, Alice and June; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by his parents, David and Lottie; his daughter Lori Jan; his sister Doris; and brothers, Kenneth and Allan. Doug and Eileen spent 56 wonderful years together, in which they enjoyed travelling, wintering in Clearwater, FL and spending time in the summer at their cottage on the Lake of Two Mountains, Lake of the Woods. Doug served with the 410 Cougar Squadron in the Royal Canadian Air Force as the longest serving member (1940 to 1945). It was important to Doug that he maintained his friendship with all remaining members of the squadron. Doug founded D. Phillips Acoustics, and owned it up until his retirement in 1989. He was well liked and respected by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Vascular Ward, for their excellent care. An informal gathering will be held to remember and celebrate the life of Doug on Friday evening, November 8 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Glen Lawn Funeral Home Reception Centre, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (South of the Royal Canadian Mint). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dougs memory to the St. Amant Foundation, 440 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 3Z9.
