She was predeceased by husband Eyolfur and son Gerald; parents Hannes and Thorun Anderson; brothers Oli and Skuli. She is survived by son Denis wife Carol; granddaughters Dale Fredrickson (Darren) and Jackie Walker (Daniel) great grandsons Ryan and Branden Walker; great granddaughter Stephanie Fredrickson; sister Bena Freeman and several nieces and nephews. Bertha was born June 9, 1915. She spent the majority of her life in Winnipeg except for two years she lived in Vancouver. Bertha enjoyed her cottage at Winnipeg Beach but her main enjoyment, besides her family, was the time she spent at Chapter. Bertha belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star Patricia Chapter No. 8. The highlight of her many years as a member, was her installation as Worthy Matron in 1985/86. In 1994/96 she was appointed as a Grand Representative to Ohio in Manitoba of which she was extremely proud. She was also a member of the ladies auxiliary of The First Lutheran Church for a number of years. Unfortunately in the year 2000 health problems prevented her from further participation with both these groups. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Park Manor Personal Care Home for all the love and kindness they showed to Bertha. She appreciated everything they did for her. In addition many thanks to the staff of 3E Deer Lodge Center T.A.C.T. unit especially to Chris, the care and understanding you provided was exceptional. Should friends desire in lieu of flowers a donation in her name can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 12 at First Lutheran Church, 580 Victor Street. NEIL BARDAL INC. 949-2200
