KENNETH WALTER CLARK It is with deep regret that we announce the death of our husband, father and grandfather, Ken, on Friday, November 1, 2002 at the age of 93. He passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, at Grace General Hospital in Winnipeg. Ken will be fondly remembered by his wife of 66 years, Mildred; daughters, Pat (Graham) and Margie (Bill) and son Ron (Shirley) grandchildren, Valerie (Mark), Ken (Alaine), Shauna, Clark (Leslie), Ken, and Richard (Lise) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was raised in Saskatchewan as part of a large blended family. Ken completed high school in Saskatoon and went to work for Bowman Brothers. Although the company changed hands, he remained for over 40 years and finally retired in 1974 to White Rock, BC. Ken and Mildred returned to Winnipeg in 1997. During his working years he was a member of the Kinsmen / K 40 Service clubs and was very proud of the work they did. Ken and Mildred had great fun with family and friends in Saskatoon, North Battleford, Tisdale, Swift Current, Brandon and Winnipeg. Extra special were the summers at Meota, and the good times shared. Throughout his life he was a maker of music and a teller of stories. His music was song and ukulele, often accompanied by Mildred on the piano, usually with friends and family singing along. His stories were of friends and family and their hilarious adventures. Ken had a lifelong passion for golf, and was proud to achieve his first hole-in-one at the age of 85, and to "golf his age" at 77. He played his last nine holes in the summer of his 91st birthday. Ken became an avid watcher of sports in his later years. He and Mildred enjoyed travelling to Barbados and Europe. Ken later escaped Winnipeg winters in Arizona and Texas. A service of remembrance was held in the chapel at Golden West Centennial Lodge on Wednesday, November 6. A celebration of Kens life is planned for all family and friends in late July at Meota. Special thank you to the staff and volunteers at the Palliative Care Unit on the 4th floor of Grace General Hospital, personnel and Home Care staff at the Westhaven Retirement Community and everyone at Golden West Centennial Lodge. Donations in Kens memory may be sent to the Grace General Hospital Foundation Hospice, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7 or ones local Salvation Army.
