ROBERT ELMER MOFFAT Peacefully, on Nov-ember 3, 2002, Robert Moffat passed away at the age of 86. Bob was predeceased by his parents, George and Nellie Moffat of Elgin; his first wife Laura Kathryn Briley; and his stepson Robert Taylor. Bob is survived by his daughter Linda (Burton) Leathers of Ottawa; sons, Doug (Donna) of Toronto, Don (Raya) of Ottawa, Dick (Wendy) of Florida; and grandchildren, Katie, Neil, Nicole, Shelly, Anna, Cynthia, Brian, Kyla and Rayna. He is also survived by his sister Evelyn Johnston of Brandon and brother Harold (Marlene) of Calgary. Bob is survived by his second wife Violet Jane; and her children, Mona Taylor of Vancouver, Judy (Bill) Ryall and Joanne (George) Ursell of Winnipeg; and grandchildren, Jillian, Alison, Sarah, Michael, Daniel, Brady, Jennifer, Shaun, Bryan, and Robert; and one great-grandchild Mackenzie. Bob was born in 1916 and raised on the family farm near Elgin. He completed his education at five universities in Canada and The United States and had professional standing as a lawyer and economist. Bob worked as a senior economist with the Canadian Wartime Price Control Agency, as economic advisor to the premier of Manitoba, and as an alderman for the City of Winnipeg. The last 15 years of his career, Bob was corporate secretary and manager of Manitoba Pool Elevators. Since retirement in 1978, Bob had travelled extensively and pursued his interests in history and politics. He published his book, Money and Wealth in the Affluent Society, in 1983. Bob and Vi spent many hours caring for their grand-children. Cremation has taken place. A private memorial service for family and friends will take place Saturday, November 9.
