JULIAN R. GLOWACKI, Q.C. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Julian Glowacki on November 9, 2002, at the age of 81 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Debbie (Rick) Honke and cherished granddaughter Erin. He also leaves to mourn his passing brother William of White Rock, BC; sisters, Helen Packowich of Surrey, BC, Bernice (Stan) Smith of Winnipeg, and Terry (Norman) Mann of Winnipeg; as well as many nieces and nephews. In 1998 he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 44 years, Vera (nee Gaffield). He was also predeceased by his parents, William and Ksenia; brothers, Michael and Stanley; sisters, Cecilia Glowacki and Mary Thomas; and nephew Brian Mann. Julian was born in the City of Winnipeg, April 12, 1921. After graduating high school he served four years with the Royal Canadian Navy on active services, and after being honourably discharged, resumed his education under the Veterans Program. He attended St. Pauls College and the Manitoba Law School. Julian graduated from the Manitoba Law School in 1951, and took honours in all years of the law course. He was admitted to the Bar on February 5, 1952 and went into practice in partnership with Bernard Dubienski and Ian Dubienski, continuing in partnership with that firm until January of 1961, at which time he opened his own firm. In June 1976, he entered into partnership with Victor W. Libitka and remained the senior member of the firm until his retirement. Julian enjoyed a reputation among his colleagues for excellence, integrity, and dedication, and throughout his career was known for the assistance and encouragement he provided to other members of the profession. In March 1977, Julian was appointed a part-time Judge of the Provincial Judges Court, Province of Manitoba. He held the position until the demands of his practice dictated that he resign the Provincial Court Judgeship. On January 11, 1984 he was appointed as a member of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal. On December 5, 1984 he was appointed as Queens Counsel for the Province of Manitoba. Julian was very active in the Canadian Polish Professional and Business Association, the Royal Canadian Legion V.C. Mynarski Branch and the Polish Combatants Association. He held an executive position in the Winnipeg North Liberal Association, and held various offices in Liberal Constituency organizations over the years. An avid outdoorsman, he was very active in the field of conservation, and for a great number of years was President of the Eagle Game & Fish Association, a local organization affiliated with the Manitoba Wildlife Federation. Julian will be remembered by his family and many friends for his humility, compassion for others, and his true generosity. The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Dr. J. Drexler for his excellent care and kindness in the last few years. Cremation has taken place, and following Julians wishes a private family service and interment will take place. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Julians memory to the Manitoba Wildlife Rehabilitation Organization or the Winnipeg Humane Society. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
