LUBA (LOVEY) BAILLEY (nee KLOWAK) After a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, Lovey Bailley, aged 73, passed away with family at her side on November 9, 2002 at Riverview Health Centre. Lovey was born in Winnipeg, MB to parents, Katherine and George Klowak on January 16, 1929. Her early childhood found her moving from one rural Manitoba community to another due to her fathers CNR employment. It was in Poplarfield, MB, where she attended grade school and formulated many of her life long dear friends, Liz Genyk and Jenny Bailley. After grade school Lovey attended and graduated from St. Marys Academy in Winnipeg. She returned to Poplarfield, and in 1947 married Peter Bailley. Lovey and Peter were residing in Winnipeg where all three of their children were born. In 1956, she returned to Poplarfield, where together with husband Peter and children they operated the Bailley general store. In 1962 they sold the business and purchased the Queens Hotel in Gretna, MB. For the next six years Lovey operated the Tropicana restaurant, her culinary expertise was the talk of the town. In 1968, they resettled back in Winnipeg, where Moms hospitality flourished. We can all remember her holiday feasts, which were presented with the greatest of care. Her invitations to family and friends, to drop in for dinner, because as she would say, I just threw a few things together usually resulted in a minimum four-course dinner. The freezer was always stocked with cabbage rolls, perogies, or scrumptious baking. Take-out service was common place with many a roaster being transported to her dear family. Combined with meals extravaganza, we all have more than one holiday craft, and until today they bring back fond memories of her love and creativity. Lovey was her name, and very appropriate. Her name really describes who she was in life, a dedicated daughter, a loving and nurturing mother and grandmother (Baba). She was a person who was loved and admired by all who were associated with her. Mom was deeply devoted to her family and will be sadly missed and forever cherished by mother Katherine Klowak; son Brian (Judy) daughter Trish Jackson (Darryl) son Gary (Kathy) and her two very special grandchildren, Christopher and Krista Jackson. Also left to mourn is her brother Ben (Olia) Klowak, sister-in-law Olga Klowak, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her brother Steven, her father George, her husband Peter and her brother Norman. Prayers will be said on Wednesday, November 13 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 15 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, 300 Donalda Ave., officiated by Brother Jorge Villegas. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Marvin Klowak, George Klowak, Steven Bailley, Bill Markusa, Ken Markusa, and Bert Savard. To all the Angels on 3E at the Riverview Health Centre, for your gifts of compassion and loving care for Mom and her family during her lengthy stay. We thank you. She grew to love you all. Mom, we thank you for everything you gave us, your patience, understanding, your kindness and most of all your unconditional love. We know you are just a thought away. Love never dies. Those that leave us dont go away, they walk beside us day by day. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to CancerCare MB or the Canadian Diabetes Association. I asked God for all things that I might enjoy life. God gave me life that I might enjoy all things. Lubas favourite. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
