PATRICIA HELEN HAMILTON With her loving husband, daughters, and sister gathered around her, Pat Hamilton passed away peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2002, after a recurrence of lung cancer. She leaves to mourn her husband Alan of Argyle; and her daughters and their families; Colleen, Rob, Tiana and Sierra Dixon of Onalaska, WI; Sharron, Jeff, Karina, McKenna, Tracy and Aaron Forsberg of Omaha, NE; and Merrilee and friend Eric Ellenor of The Pas. She also leaves her sister Linda (Andre) Van de Walle of Rosser; mother Helen Morrison of Stonewall; brother Jack of Rosser; relatives and many good friends. She was predeceased by her son Ross and father Kent. Pat was born March 3, 1941 in Bissett, MB. She grew up in the Rosser area. Upon marrying she and Alan began farming near Argyle and raised their four children. Pat and Alan raised a close knit family that enjoyed family times together. Together, the family was involved in 4-H, music, and curling. They began their annual tradition of "The Hamilton Weekend" coming together at different locales for family time and the annual golf game. The six grandchildren each held a special piece of grandmas heart and brought her immense enjoyment. Pat was a community minded person serving in officer positions and on committees with the Argyle Hall Board and Argyle Curling Club. She always enjoyed the challenge of coming up with new projects. Pat also spent much time and energy in the 4-H program as a Leader, Head Leader, Council Member, and one of the founders of the 4-H Foundation. After many years as a "domestic engineer", Pat went to work for the Stonewall Argus and then later worked at the ESSO agency in Stonewall. She and Alan took over the ESSO agency in 1983 and managed Alan Hamilton Ltd. for 11 years. At the same time, Pat channelled her creative and entrepreneurial skills into her Captured Moments business, perfecting the drying of flowers and framing of keepsake items from funerals and weddings. After retirement from ESSO, Pat embraced her passion for financial planning and a new career was underway as she took many years of classes and exams to become a Financial Planner with Money Concepts. She enjoyed her new career immensely. Pat had a special quality that made people want to confide in her and seek her advice. She was always supportive of her family and had a strong shoulder and ready ear for those who needed her. She made many friends through her community involvement and business interactions. Pat has made a great impact on those who were fortunate to know her. Her lively spirit, her dedication to her family, and her business sense made her an inspiration to others. The family appreciates the care and compassion the staff working at Seven Oaks Hospital Fifth Floor - Unit 2 showed toward Pat in her final days. Upon cremation, a service to celebrate Pats life is planned for Tuesday, November 12, at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall, MB with Rev. Leslie Clark officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or the Manitoba 4-H Foundation, 916-401 York Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 0P8.
