STANLEY SPENCER CARR (1913 - 2002) On Saturday, November 9, 2002, after a full and active life, Stan Carr, aged 89, passed away in the Carman Memorial Hospital. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Rilda and their family, John (Karla), Arlene (Cuyler Cotton), Marie (Graham Henderson), Donald, Ryan (Phyllis) and Susan; grandchildren, Kira and Laura, James and Darren, Heather and Julia; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Iona (Ian) Hind, and brothers, Bill (Inga) and Cliff. He was predeceased by sister Marjorie and brother-in-law Fraser Whiteside, sisters-in-law. Clare and Audrey; mother Alice Jane (Miller) father Jack (John Stephen) and grandson Stephen Carr. Stan attended school in Brigdenley and took over the family farm near Homewood. In 1943, he married Rilda Diehl of Cypress River. Stan was the president of Homewood Co-op, as was his father Jack before him. He served on the Homewood and Carman United Church boards, the Homewood Pool Elevator and the Brigdenley School Boards. Stan loved to curl and was instrumental in initiating the building of the Homewood Curling Rink. He later served on committees and was caretaker of the rink for several years. Stans life was filled with music and he sang in the United Church choir. He was an avid golfer and cross-country skier and enjoyed many hours on the trails in the Roseisle Hills with friends and family. He instilled the love of camping in all his children with their annual camping trips across this land. He took great pride in his family and was always thankful for his good fortune. He will be fondly remembered. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carman United Church with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. Private interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Carman. If friends desire, donations may be made to the Carman Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Box 610, Carman, MB R0G 0J0, or Canadian Foodgrains Bank, 400 - 280 Smith St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2L4.
