HELEN HARPMAN Peacefully on November 11, 2002 after a courageous battle with MS at the Kinsmen Personal Care Home in Oak Bank, at the age of 81 years, passed away. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings. She leaves her loving husband Leonard of 54 years; and her children, Eleanor Marland, Gary Harpman, Sandi Arsenault (Gary), Jim Harpman, Pat Chabluk Tony) grandchildren, Robyn, Sean, Ryan, Kevin, Kimberley (Richard), Chris, Kelly, David, Kerri and Renee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was born and raised in Elmwood, where she met and married Len in 1948 and lived in East Kildonan before moving to Oak Bank in 1971. She had been employed with CPR prior to having children and returned to the work force after having children to work as a secretary for Gordon King Memorial Church until her health caused her to quit. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christian Science. She also enjoyed meeting with her high school friends for lunch on the first and third Wednesday of every month. Helen was also an active member of the Silver Threads Senior Group that met every Thursday at Kin Place. Helen and Len spent many years of enjoyment with both the Hazelridge and Beausejour Legions. A very big thank you goes to all the staff at Kin Place Personal Care Home, Dr. Galbraith, Dr. Wiebe and the home care givers for all their caring and help. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Helens life will be held on Friday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Bank United Church, 582 Balsam Cres., Oak Bank, MB. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Helens memory to the charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Klassen Funeral Chapel, 338-0331.
