GUDNEY (GWEN) VIOLA JACKETT (nee KJARTANSON) March 7, 1922 - November 12, 2002 Gwen was born in Beckville, MB on March 7, 1922. She had fond memories of her youth on the farm. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1930 when she was eight years old. Until her death, Gwen would visit the Amaranth District to enjoy time with the many friends she had made. When war broke out, Gwen went to Toronto to work in a small arms plant for DeHavilland Aircraft. She married her husband, Roy, on November 23, 1945. She worked at home, seaming nets for her fathers commercial fish business. She later worked for several years as a sales clerk at the Bay. She trained in the then infant computer industry as a keypunch operator. She worked for Soo Securities Motorways from 1958 to 1960. She worked for the Provincial Government Data Services as data preparations supervisor until her retirement in 1982 where she made some wonderful friends. It was during this time that she also taught keypunching at Red River Community College. After retirement, she and her husband Roy enjoyed going to Husavik in the summer where they had a trailer. Their grandchildren would often spend the entire summer with them which brought them great joy. Gwen loved her family above all. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Gwen was predeceased by her husband Roy; father Jule; mother Jennie; brothers, Jule, Kjartan, and Terry Kjartanson; and sisters, Dorothy Tuck and Evelyn Clark. She is survived by sons, Richard (June), John (Helena) grandchildren, Karley (David Costa), Christie and Todd; and great-grandson Anthony Costa; as well as her brother John; and sisters, Hazel MacLeod, Vivian Stunden and Helen Plett. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 16 at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance.
