LABBE ALLEN SOUCY Labbe Allen Soucy du Foyer Valade, est decede mardi le 12 novembre 2002, a lage de soixante-et-onze ans. Allen, ne a Riviere-du-Loup, Qc le 6 janvier 1931, etait fils dEmile Soucy et Rosy Fontaine. Il laisse dans le deuil sa soeur Yvette, son frere Richard ainsi que des neveux et nieces au Quebec. Il commenca ses etudes a Cacouna, Qc (1937 - 1944). Il poursuivit ses etudes au College St-Victor-de-Beauce, Qc (1947 - 1952). Il fit ses etudes en philosophie a Rimouski, Qc (1952 - 1955) et continua sa theologie au Grand Seminaire de Saint-Boniface (1955 - 1959). Allen fut ordonne pretre le 21 juin 1959 par S.E. Mgr Charles Eugene Parent a lelise de Cacouna, Qc. Successivement il fut vicaire a Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, (1959 - 1961), vicaire a la paroisse Holy Cross et St. Thomas More (1961 - 1962), vicaire econome a la paroisse de Powerview (1962 - 1963), superieur du Petit Seminaire Saint-Jean a Otterburne (1963 - 1964), aumonier a lHopital Saint-Boniface (1964 - 1966). Il fut ensuite cure a Lac du Bonnet (1966 - 1973) et a Pinawa (1966 - 1970 et 1972 - 1973), directeur au Petit Seminaire de Saint-Boniface (1973 - 1975), vicaire a la paroisse Holy Cross (1977 - 1980), directeur au Petit Seminaire de Saint-Boniface (1980 - 1983) et directeur adjoint au philosophat de Saint-Boniface (1983 - 1984). Il prit sa retraite en 1984 a cause de la maladie du Parkinson. Il prit residence a Saint-Antoine a lArcheveche, puis au Foyer Valade en 1987, rue Archibald, et ensuite chemin River en 1988. La messe des funerailles, sera presidee par Mgr LArcheveque, Emilius Goulet, p.s.s a 14h00, a la Cathedrale de Saint-Boniface, le jeudi 14 novembre 2002. Une messe sera celebree lundi le 18 novembre 2002 a leglise Saint-Georges de Cacouna, suivie de linhumation au cimetiere paroissial. Allen a rendu fidelement service dans des ministeres varies, soit aupres de la jeunesse, des paroissiens et paroissiennes, des malades et aupres des residents du Foyer Valade. Le diocese de Saint-Boniface, ainsi que les membres de la famille Soucy desirent remercier dune facon particuliere la direction et le personnel du Foyer Valade pour les soins prodigues avec devouement, respect et grande sensibilite envers labbe Allen durant les quinze dernieres annees. FATHER ALLEN SOUCY Father Allen Soucy of Foyer Valade passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2002. He was 71 years old. Allen, son of Emile Soucy and Rosy Fontaine was born in Riviere-du-Loup, QC, on January 6, 1931. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Yvette, his brother Richard and by nephews and nieces in Quebec. Allen started school in Cacouna, QC (1937 - 1944) and continued at College St-Victor-de-Beauce, QC (1947 - 1952). He then pursued his studies in philosophy in Rimouski, QC (1952 - 1955) and continued his theological studies at the St. Boniface Seminary (1955 - 1959). He was ordained to the priesthood on June 21, 1959 by Bishop Charles Eugene Parent, in Saint Georges Church, in Cacouna, QC. Father Soucy consecutively served the Church as, assistant at Notre Dame de Lourdes parish (1959 - 1961), at Holy Cross and Saint Thomas More (1961 - 1962), at Powerview (1962 - 1963), superior of the St. John Minor Seminary in Otterburne (1963 - 1964), chaplain at St. Boniface General Hospital (1964 - 1966), director at the St. Boniface Minor Seminary (1973 - 1975), assistant at Holy Cross Parish (1977 - 1980), director of the St. Boniface Minor Seminary (1980 - 1983) and assistant director at the St. Boniface Philosophate (1983 - 1984). He retired in 1984 due to Parkinsons disease and took up residence at Saint-Antoine at the Archdiocese, and then became a resident at Foyer Valade in St. Boniface (1987) and then on River Road since 1988. The funeral mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Emilius Goulet, P.S.S., on Thursday, November 14, at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Boniface Cathedral. A funeral mass will also be celebrated in Saint Georges Church, in Cacouna, QC, on Monday, November 18, followed by the interment in the parish cemetery. Allen served faithfully in various ministries, either the youth, parishioners, the sick and discreetly the residents of Foyer Valade. The Archdiocese of St. Boniface and the members of the Soucy family would like to thank in a special way the staff of Foyer Valade for their respectful and sensitive caring of Fr.
