Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS IRENE SUTHERLAND (nee RYAN) Peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2002, Phyllis Irene Sutherland passed away at Grace General Hospital. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, James and Margaret Ryan; her sister Olive Brooks; and her cherished husband of 47 years, J. D. (Jim) Sutherland. Phyllis remains will join Jims in Sunnyside Cemetery. Her spirit is with him now. She is survived by her loving sister Doris Allford and three generations of caring Sutherland nieces and nephews. It is with sadness that her nieces and nephews mourn her loss while giving thanks for her full and active life. Phyllis was an avid sportswoman, participating in baseball, golf and curling. She was a member of Assiniboine and Elmhurst Golf Clubs and Deer Lodge Curling Club, winning numerous club championships over the years. She and Uncle Jim were "true blue" Bomber fans; season ticket holders for over 40 years. They also enjoyed time together hunting and snowmobiling. Phyllis was a devoted wife, strongly supporting Jim in his business and social ventures. She was a consummate hostess, entertaining graciously in their home. At Phyllis request cremation has taken place, with a private family interment. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
