Russell. Born on June 7, 1924, in Winnipeg, the only daughter of Charles Henry Booth and Violet Mildred (Whitley) Booth, Mrs. Russell was a lifelong resident of Winnipeg. She was educated at Riverbend School for Girls (now Balmoral Hall), the University of Manitoba (Bachelor of Arts), and the University of Toronto (Bachelor of Library Science). Prior to her marriage she was a Reference Librarian at the University of Manitoba and later at St. James-Assiniboia Public Library. Mrs. Russell was active for a number of years at the University Womens Club and was a devoted member of St. Johns Cathedral (Anglican) for 25 years serving on the Chancel Guild, in the Anglican Church Women, on many committees and as a regular reader at the Services of the Church. Of recent years, until prevented by ill health, she attended St. Lukes Parish. Marion will be remembered by all who knew her for her elegance, gracious manner and kindly ways, but especially for her service to others unstintingly given. Ever patient under difficulties, she waged her long struggle with Alzheimers disease to the end with courage and fortitude never losing the pleasant smile she had for everyone. She is survived by her loving and sorrowing husband Jack; and by her brother Glenn (Phyllis) of Edmonton; sisters-in-law, Mrs. John R. Morton (Dolores) of Winnipeg, and Mrs. G. Harold Sharp (Mary) of Montreal; brothers-in-law, Ronald (Carol) and Gerald (Mary Ann) Russell of Winnipeg; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; and by many close and dear friends who were so supportive and helpful throughout her illness. Thanks is also expressed to the staff of the second floor of Oakview Place who were always so kind and caring of Marion. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, November 20 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Lukes Anglican Church, 130 Nassau St. N., with the Rev. Robert Brownlie officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, but those wishing to do so may make a donation to The Alzheimer Society, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9, or, as Marion was very fond of animals, to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB, R2L 1X3.
