Date of Passing: Nov 14, 2002
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY AGNES CADMAN 1929 - 2002 With Gods Grace, on Thursday, November 14, 2002 in her sleep, Dorothy left this Earth and joined her brother Jim Cadman, sister Anne Neal and, of course, her parents William L. Cadman, Verna R. Shand and step-father, Len Stone. Dorothy was born in Winnipeg in 1929. She married Gabe Van Tornhout in 1951 and raised their children in Winnipeg, Mississauga and moved to Calgary in 1969. As well as being a homemaker Dorothy worked in the clerical field to provide her family with a better standard of living. In 1983 Dorothy and Gabe parted ways and she remained single for the duration. Dorothys passions included reading, a flair for decorating and assisting other seniors in discovering benefits available to them. A drive through the country with a Dairy Queen chocolate shake always raised a smile. She always put others before herself and that example will be an enduring legacy her family can look upon forever. She will be missed dearly and, unfortunately, we lost the additional time to convey just how much. She leaves to mourn, one sister, Marion Kennedy, three sons and one daughter, Chris Van Tornhout (Donna), Kirk Van Tornhout (Debbie), Sean Van Tornhout and Robin Hulme (Doug) and five grandchildren, Erin (Glen), Jay, Megan (Garnet), Courtney and Douglas. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Salvation Army Agape Hospice for their compassionate care during her brief stay there; Homecare nurse Norma Allen and Dr. George Barr for his exceptional commitment to her well-being. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to a charity of your choice, to the Alberta Cancer Foundation in care of Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29th Street, N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 4N2, telephone (403) 944-2433, or to the Agape Manor Hospice, 1302 - 8th Avenue N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 1B8 Telephone: (403) 282-6588.
