SONIA WESELAKE (nee ILNISKY) October 9, 1931 - November 16, 2002 It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother and grandmother Sonia Weselake, on Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Concordia Hospital. She will be lovingly remembered by her son David (Jeanette) grandchildren, Joey (Sarah), Kristen and Carly; sisters, Mary, Annie, Katie; and her brother Steve. Sonia was predeceased by her husband Daniel Weselake; and her parents, Nettie and John; brothers, Bill, Peter; and her sister Linda. Born in Gronlid, SK, Sonia left home at an early age, where she met her first husband David S. Wright in Alberta. Following their marriage, they travelled Europe together, as David was stationed in Germany with the R.C.A.F. Sonia moved to Winnipeg in 1966 where she worked odd jobs while going to school to become a Health Care Aid. Sonia remarried in 1984 to Daniel Weselake and lived happily until his death in 1994. Sonia worked for the Riverview Health Centre for 23 years until her retirement in 1995. In her retirement she loved spending time with her grandchildren; they meant the world to her. Prayers will be held on Thursday, November 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy. 1 East at Green Acres Lane. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Manitoba Division, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, MB R3G 1S6.
